Textile Centre
Textile Centre
Parnell, Auckland

The Textile Centre project in Parnell was delivered in multiple stages over 12-months, with all works carried out within a fully operational building. Careful planning and flexibility were key to keeping the building accessible and safe for tenants throughout.

Stage One
Stage One focused on creating a new internal connection between Faraday Street and Kenwyn Street, including excavation to form a central walkway and the construction of a new stairwell. Existing brickwork was retained and exposed, paired with new structural steel elements through the stair, balustrades, and detailing.

Stage Two
Stage Two shifted to the St Georges Bay Road entrance, upgrading the space with timber cladding, new finishes, and fire-rated treatments to improve both function and appearance.

Stage Three
The final stage upgraded the Kenwyn Street entry from Ground to Level Four, including replica timber detailing, lighting, and fire service improvements to open and simplify the space.
Working within a live environment required strong coordination across trades, clear staging, and regular adjustment to the programme. The result is a practical upgrade that improves access and usability while respecting the building’s existing character.
