This architectural marvel in Auckland combines cutting-edge design with durable materials for a luxurious home that captures breathtaking views.
In December 2023, Urry + Burgess Construction successfully completed the Panorama House, a remarkable residential project located in Bucklands Beach, Auckland. This 18-month endeavor, delivered on time and within budget, showcases a harmonious blend of modern design elements and high-quality materials, resulting in a five-bedroom, four-bathroom home that epitomizes contemporary coastal living – a house that often experiences the four seasons in our day with the most incredible view for Rangitoto.
Designed by T Plus Architects, the Panorama House is strategically positioned to maximize the breathtaking views of the surrounding seascape. The architects thoughtfully relocated the entrance to the side of the house, allowing the main living area to span the full width of the site. This design choice not only enhances the panoramic vistas but also creates an open and inviting atmosphere within the home. The entrance and staircase are enveloped in warm timber paneling and expansive glazing, forming an impressive double-height space conceptualized as a lantern that emits a welcoming glow.

The structural integrity of the Panorama House is reinforced through the use of architecturally exposed structural steel and precast concrete panels. These materials provide a robust framework and contribute to the home’s sleek, modern aesthetic. The concrete elements, featuring shuttered textures, firmly anchor the building to its coastal site, ensuring durability against the elements.
Complementing the sturdy structure, the exterior cladding incorporates timber framing adorned with Cedar Screen vertical weatherboards. This choice of material adds natural warmth and texture to the façade, seamlessly integrating the home with its coastal environment. The Hermpac VertiLine Vertical Shiplap Weatherboard Cavity System was employed, offering a cavity-based cladding solution that ensures both aesthetic appeal and functional performance. This system comprises vertically fixed shiplap weatherboards, ventilated cavity battens, flashings, and accessories, all finished with a premium penetrating oil, stain, and exterior paint as per Hermpac’s specifications.

The interior spaces of the Panorama House are thoughtfully designed to capture stunning views from every room. Strategically placed windows frame the picturesque surroundings, creating a constant connection between the interior and the natural beauty outside. The open-plan living areas are bathed in natural light, enhancing the sense of space and tranquility. High-quality finishes and fixtures are evident throughout, contributing to the home’s luxurious yet comfortable ambiance.

In summary, the Panorama House at The Parade, Bucklands Beach, stands as a testament to modern architectural design and superior construction practices. The collaboration between T Plus Architects and Urry + Burgess Construction has resulted in a residence that not only meets the practical needs of its occupants, but also offers an elevated living experience through its thoughtful design and high-quality materials. And the owners are absolutely loving living in their new home!

It was a difficult job for a number of reasons. Access was tight with Bath Street being a one-way road. On the ground floor of the property there was an functioning retail store that we needed to be well aware of and keep safe for the duration of the job.
