Preserve Heritage and Elevate Functionality: Urry + Burgess Construction Revitalises Hallways and Stairwell in the Iconic Textile Centre
The rich history of the Textile Centre in New Zealand deserves to be cherished. That’s why Urry + Burgess Construction took on the challenge of refreshing the hallways and stairwell with utmost care, blending modernisation with the preservation of the building’s unique heritage. The result? A seamless integration of old-world charm and contemporary infrastructure that will leave you in awe.
Our team embarked on this project with a mission to meticulously recreate the beloved historical character of the Textile Centre. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, ensuring that the redesigned walls matched the existing brickwork flawlessly. The walls were meticulously detailed, replicating the texture, colour, and overall appearance of the original brickwork. The result is a harmonious blend of the past and the present, preserving the building’s cherished legacy.
In addition to honouring the building’s heritage, we focused on enhancing functionality. A key aspect of the project involved the installation of a new electrical cable tray system. This innovative addition not only improved the overall efficiency of the building but also created a sense of spaciousness within the common areas. By seamlessly integrating the new system, we were able to elevate the aesthetic appeal of the hallways and stairwells while maintaining their historical integrity.
When it came to lighting, our team installed functional lighting solutions, including sensors and energy-efficient LEDs. The intelligent use of sensors ensured that lighting was activated only when needed, reducing energy consumption, and promoting sustainability. The installation of LED fixtures not only provided ample illumination, but also added a contemporary touch to the space, enhancing its overall ambiance.
At Urry + Burgess Construction, we understand the delicate balance between preserving heritage and embracing modernisation. Our commitment to detail, craftsmanship, and seamless integration ensures that the Textile Centre’s common hallways and stairwells have been transformed into a space that honours the past while meeting the needs of the present.
